In addition to the brisk sales of the new platform, software sales have topped 487 million so far while time spent gaming has topped 600 million hours per week. Contributing to the sales of the PlayStation 4 is the PlayStation 4 Pro, which is a more powerful version of the system. So far, 20 percent of the sales for the PlayStation 4 have come from the Pro edition.
Microsoft showcased its Xbox One X at E3, a platform even purportedly even more powerful than Sony's current console. Microsoft hopes to do battle with Sony for dominance in gaming consoles. Sony has the advantage with the PS4 Pro because it is less expensive and offers a wider variety of games.
