The LeBron 16 is not out yet but the Los Angeles Lakers star player has already shown it off by wearing his new shoes. The photo of LeBron James in his shoes is a nice treat for fans who have been waiting to see what the "special shoes" that Nike promised to commemorate James' first season in Los Angeles looked like in action.
The LeBron 16
The shoes, as shown online, are very cool and have a unique heel that has the face of a lion with red eyes staring out from the back of the shoes.
The ones released on Twitter are purple in color with red accents in a flyknit style.
While that was a cool first-look, people wanted to see what the shoes looked like when someone was wearing them and LeBron James did not disappoint. In a photo published on B/R Kicks Twitter page, James was sitting in a folding chair watching some action while wearing the LeBron 16 shoes.
As if that wasn't enough, James was pretty proud of his new shoes as well.
And then James took a first-hand photo of the LeBron 16 shoes on his feet.
Everything you need to know about the LeBron 16 shoes
LeBron James seems very proud of the work that Nike did to make the LeBron 16 shoes special as he prepares for the next step of his career with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Sole Collector has all the news about this new pair of collectible shoes.
According to the Foot Locker release schedule, the LeBron 16 shoes go on sale on September 20. The color scheme is the "Black/University Red" color scheme. Not only did James show off the shoes in the new photos, but this is the first pair that he will wear in Los Angeles when playing for the Lakers.
The Lion Face logo has been absent from James' shoes since he released the LeBron 8 in 2010. Interestingly, that was his first signature pair of shoes after he left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the first time and went to the Miami Heat.
The branding is in yellow with a black upper and the lateral swoosh is there with the "LJ" crown placed on the tongue of the LeBron 16.
The actual tooling of the shoes is very similar to that of the LeBron 15 with the Max Air and Zoom Air combo as cushioning and the BattleKnit construction.
LeBron shoes
The LeBron signature shoes started back in 2003. Adidas low balled LeBron on the deal and Reebok offered him everything. Despite that, he signed with Nike. The deal with Nike was a lifetime deal worth around $1 billion. The Nike LeBron XIII is considered the best of the best, so the LeBron 16 has a lot to live up to.
