Two of the greatest athletes of all time have been tearing it up on the Basketball court and soccer field over the past decade and a half. LeBron James and Cristiano Ronaldo are two of the most well-known athletes of all time and probably the two biggest names in sports today, and they are shocking fans around the world with their abilities to stay on the top of their games at age 33.
Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro was born on February 5, 1985, and will celebrate his 34th birthday in early 2019. However, for LeBron James, he reaches 34 just before 2018 concludes as he was born on December 24, 1984.
Both superstars started their professional careers in around 2002-2003, and have been at the front of the spotlight during their entire careers. With many fantastic goals and baskets in their career, many expected a decline from them at around this stage in their careers. But both players have exceeded expectations and are at the peak of their prime in 2018.
Like fine wine
As LeBron said a few weeks ago, he gets better with age, ‘like fine wine’. And that could also be said for Ronaldo, who since turning 33 has already scored 39 goals in all competitions. A scoring rate that has very rarely been seen in history before. While LeBron is also setting historic marks in the NBA, this season averaging a career-high in assists and rebounds while having his highest scoring season in 8 years, while being on pace to play his first 82-game full season.
Both LeBron and Ronaldo are in peak physical condition and dedicate their lifestyles to staying in top shape for performance. Both have avoided major injuries throughout their careers and have their body in performance shape like a 22-year old, yet they are both 33.
Real recognize real
Ronaldo recently scored one of the most insane goals of his career, timing his jump perfectly to scissor kick the ball backward into the goal where the goalkeeper had no chance to save it.
LeBron James appreciated this goal so much, he showed his appreciation to another athlete he appreciates.
Here is a look at the spectacular goal scored by Ronaldo.
LeBron James also recently had one of the best and most athletic plays of his career at age 33 in a regular season game against the Portland Trail Blazers, as seen below.
We will just have to appreciate these athletes while they are still playing cause they won’t be around forever, and their athleticism and work ethic to be the best player they can be is something that will not be seen too much again in the future. Both players will be remembered forever in the future of sporting history.
