It seems like the Los Angeles Lakers will have to continue life without rookie Lonzo Ball. The second-overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft has been out for seven games due to a sprained MCL. Even Lakers head coach Luke Walton does not know when the former UCLA standout is going to come back.

After the Lakers' practice Tuesday, Walton spoke about the status of Lonzo. The former Golden State Warriors assistant coach stated that Ball is yet to get clearance from their training staff, though he is hopeful that the youngster will be available in their next few games.

The Lakers are on the road and are set to take on the Orlando Magic on January 31. Walton also said that if the 20-year-old is still unable to return soon, he might do so when they finish their road trip and head back home to the Staples Center.

"He could play this week. He could play next week. Or the week after. He could play in one of those weeks," Walton added per ESPN. From the looks of it, Walton has no idea when Lonzo is going to see action again. The last time Ball played was on January 13 when he helped the Lakers defeat the Dallas Mavericks, 107-101.

Good news

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Lonzo Ball, there is good news for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Following the team's practice on Tuesday, Lonzo worked on his three-point shot. The eldest of the Ball brothers looked terrific, and this could mean that he is near to a hundred percent.

Without Lonzo

In the seven games that Lonzo Ball sat out, the Los Angeles Lakers displayed tremendous promise. The Lakers fell to the Memphis Grizzlies and the Oklahoma City Thunder during their first two outings without Lonzo. However, they bounced back from these losses and went on a four-game winning run in which they bested the Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, and the Chicago Bulls. Unfortunately for them, the streak ended on January 28 when they got beaten by the Toronto Raptors, 123-111.

On the road

As mentioned, the Los Angeles Lakers are currently on a five-game road trip. Their next stop is at Amway Center to face the Orlando Magic on January 31. That will be followed by a matchup with the Brooklyn Nets on February 2. On February 4, the trip is going to end as the Lakers rematch the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers are yet to score a win over Russell Westbrook and Oklahoma City this season. Meanwhile, Lonzo Ball has never played against the Thunder so far in his young career.
