Cleveland Cavaliers have been making headlines lately and they've been doing it for many different reasons. The Cavaliers are on a seven-game winning streak, but at the same time, they are dealing with some roster problems that may not be resolved soon. However, it appears that Cleveland is finally ready to make a big trade that would help with winning an NBA championship next year.
According to a source close to the team, the Cavaliers would consider trading for DeAndre Jordan. The trade would be centered around Tristan Thompson, but the Cavs may have to add a few more pieces, including their 2018 first-round pick.
While the team hasn't revealed other pieces that could be included in the trade, here are a few possible trade scenarios.
Thompson, Shumpert, first-round pick
In this scenario, the Cleveland Cavaliers would ship Tristan Thompson, Iman Shumpert, and the first-round pick to the Los Angeles Clippers. In return, Cleveland would receive DeAndre Jordan.
It would be very unlikely to see the Clippers swap Jordan for Thompson, so the Cavaliers would probably have to add a few more assets to the trade. Shumpert would have a bigger role on the team since the Clippers are dealing with injury problems, while Thompson could help them with his rebounding. In addition, they'd get the draft pick which could land them a decent role player.
This pick wouldn't be the one Cleveland acquired from the Brooklyn Nets, but it could still be valuable.
Channing Frye and Thompson
Another trade that could be done includes Channing Frye instead of Iman Shumpert. Frye is a veteran who can play well on the court and be a leader off it, so the Clippers would benefit from his presence.
However, Frye is also seven years older than Shumpert, which means that it would be harder to trade him. In this scenario, the Cavaliers would add two draft picks, including the 2018 first-round pick. Trading Frye with Thompson wouldn't be easy, so they would have to find a way to make the Clippers accept the trade offer.
Cleveland getting two players
Finally, the Cavaliers could trade for DeAndre Jordan and Lou Williams. In order to do this, they'd trade Tristan Thompson, Iman Shumpert, and the first-round pick from the Nets.
This trade would help the Clippers rebuild and get a young player with a lot of potential in the 2018 NBA draft. On the other side, the Cavaliers would be a much better team as they'd get one of the best centers along with the former Sixth Man of the Year.
