The Cleveland Cavaliers have had a rough start to the 2017-18 campaign and it has had a lot of people talking. Although after their 104-101 comeback victory over the New York Knicks, they stand at .500 with a record of 7-7, it was just two games ago when they were two games under .500. This terrible start considering the talent has caused other teams to take an interest in the defending Eastern Conference champions, and voice their opinions on what the Cavs should do in their situation.

Many believe the Cavaliers should make some trades or sign some new players, while others believe they are fine the way they are and just need some time to mesh and gel as a team, and as a unit.

The Cavs have seemingly grown to be better both on and off the court in recent games and we will be watching to see if they can continue that. But one team NBA executive let his thoughts be known about what the Cavaliers should do, although he wanted to stay anonymous.

‘Rival team’ executive thinks Cavs should make trade

According to Bleacher Report Magazine’s Howard Beck, an un-named anonymous team executive said that the Cleveland Cavaliers best option, if they keep losing, is to trade either their 2018 first-round draft pick that was acquired in the Kyrie to Boston trade, trade perennial all-star Kevin Love or as crazy as it sounds, trade four-time Most Valuable Player LeBron James. The exact quote from the as reported ‘rival team executive’, is as read:

“I think the pressure gets pretty high… If it’s not working, they should either move the [Brooklyn Nets] pick or [Kevin] Love or LeBron [James].

Those should all be on the table.

First Kyrie Irving, now LeBron James and Kevin Love? That would just be crazy, considering this team won a championship in the year of 2016. But we have seen crazier things, and although this executive’s opinion might sound crazy, we’ve seen these things happen in the past.

What’s likely and what’s not

The most likely of the three options is definitely trading the Brooklyn Nets first-round draft pick which was acquired in the infamous Kyrie Irving trade to the Boston Celtics in which the Cavaliers also received Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, and Ante Zizic. This trade could be worth a lot, and could definitely be a top 3 pick in the draft, so for this value, the Cavs could get a solid player in the league.

Trading star players Kevin Love and especially LeBron James, however, is very unlikely. Although Love has been caught in trade talks in each of the past four seasons with the Cavaliers, he has proven himself and is having a solid season once again. The fact that the Cavs denied a Melo for Love trade last year, shows the value they see in Love. As for King James, he is basically untouchable. Although there is that slight possibility that he leaves in the summer of 2018, and he could be traded for a few huge pieces, the greatest Cavalier in franchise history will likely never be disrespected like that, and be traded. It would be the craziest trade in NBA history.
