The Washington Wizards were able to defeat the Denver Nuggets by the score of 109-104 on Monday at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. The Nuggets shot the ball better than the Wizards, but it was the defense of Washington that helped them get the victory, they had a total of 13 steals and three blocks. Otto Porter Jr. was the defensive star for the Wizards as he was able to get four steals and one block in 32 minutes.

Denver did not take care of the ball

The Denver Nuggets played a terrific game against the Wizards but yet they still fell short. They shot the ball better from the field and the three-point line, however, it was not enough to defeat the Wizards. The Nuggets turned the ball over 23 times on Monday. Nikola Jokic had seven turnovers, Wilson Chandler had three, Gary Harris had four, and Emmanuel Mudiay had five. You have to give credit to Washington for playing great defense, but the Denver Nuggets will need to be more careful with the ball moving forward if they want to win games.

Nikola Jokic bounces back from scoreless game

Nikola Jokic went scoreless on Saturday against the Sacramento Kings. But he bounced back in a big way on Monday against the Wizards. Jokic was able to contribute 29 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and one steal. He shot 64 percent from the field, made all three of his shots from beyond the arc, and made all eight of his free throw attempts. Jokic only scored a total of seven points in his first two games, Denver fans can only hope that he can continue to play well and score more efficiently moving forward. The Nuggets are now 1-2 for the season. They now shift their focus this Wednesday as they face the Charlotte Bobcats.

Oubre Jr. and Porter Jr. got six steals in total

Kelly Oubre Jr. and Otto Porter Jr. played incredibly well on defense for the Washinton Wizards. Together they recorded six steals and two blocks against Denver. Along with the defensive stats, Oubre also added 14 points, four rebounds, and one assist while shooting 50 percent from the field. While Porter added 17 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists while shooting 46 percent from the field. If Oubre and Porter can consistently play well on offense and defense, the Washington Wizards are looking like a tough team to beat this season.
