The NBA has undergone lots of changes this offseason with a new schedule and some new rules. One of the biggest change would be a number of players transferring teams this offseason. New super teams are emerging like the Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, and the Los Angeles Clippers. Here are a few more updates on the NBA free agency:
Wolves looking to hold on to Wiggins
The Timberwolves have taken a huge leap in their roster this year with the addition of NBA all-star forward Jimmy Butler and top-tier point guard Jeff Teague.
With their talented and core lineup of Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, the TImberwolves are looking like a big threat in the west next season. Shams Charania of The Vertical has reported that the Timberwolves and Andrew Wiggins are finalizing a five-year 148 million dollar extension deal this offseason. This move will likely affirm just how valuable and important Andrew Wiggins is to the team despite now having Jimmy Butler on their roster.
Wiggins entered the NBA in the offseason of 2014 where he was drafted with the first overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers. But later on, he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the Kevin Love trade package between the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Andrew Wiggins had a great season last year averaging career highs in points, steals, assists, and three-point percentage. He averaged 23.6 points, 0.4 blocks, one steal, 2.3 assists, and four rebounds while shooting 45.2 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from the behind the arc, and 76 percent from the charity stripe. Wiggins will have to step up his game next season as he is going to now play beside NBA all-star Jimmy Butler in the hopes of making the playoffs next season.
