While the Nebraska football team's coaches have squarely turned their attention to fall camp, the group is still working hard on the recruiting front as well. This week, wide receiver Chase Cota announced he had received an official scholarship offer from the Huskers. Cota announced the offer on his official Twitter account. It turns out the offer was one in a spate of several as Mike Riley and company appear to be attempting to cover their bases when it comes to the 2018 class.

Cota will be a tough get, as he has been long recruited by the Oregon Ducks.

He also has offers from some of the best schools in the country. The Nebraska football team is apparently just getting the offer out there and seeing whether or not they can work their magic on the four-star receiver

Nebraska football has several high profile rivals in the race

While the Nebraska football team has had quite a bit of luck this year when it comes to getting their targets, it might be too late for Chase Cota. There is of course, the fact that the Huskers would have to lure the receiver out of his home state. The four-star player is the 27th best receiver in the class and the second best player in the entire state of Oregon. If that wasn't enough, a look at the list of other schools that have already offered cota is a who's who of the college football world.

In addition to the Ducks, Nebraska is going to have to go toe-to-toe with Alabama, Georgia and Notre Dame. At the moment, 247 Sports has Cota listed as a solid lean towards Oregon, with the receiver getting 100 percent of the vote from various football analysts on the site.

Nebraska football waiting on announcement of defensive end

Speaking of going head to head against Alabama, four-star defensive end Cameron Latu is going to be making his choice public on Friday. The star defender announced a few days ago that his commitment was "coming soon." on Monday evening, he laid out that he will be making his choice at his high school over the lunch hour.

The Nebraska football team has made a strong impression on the weak side defensive end, but they'll have to fight off the Crimson Tide in order to get him. Usually, this kind of fight doesn't go the Huskers' way. On the other hand, there is a definite need for big time talent at the position in Lincoln. If Mike Riley and company can convince Latu of this, they might be able to steal one away from Nick Saban and the rest of his crew. We'll know soon enough as he'll be officially announcing at 2:00 PM Nebraska time on Friday.
