Battleground was an amazing pay-per-view that happened this past Sunday. It's theme song "Whatever it takes" was recorded by famous band "Imagine Dragons". Superstars like Randy Orton, John Cena, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sami Zayn, Jinder Mahal, Rusev, Kevin Owens, Mike Kanellis, Baron Corbin and tag teams like The New Day and The Usos were seen in action. From the women's division, superstars like Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Lana and Tamina were in action and in addition to this, we also saw a shocking return.
The kickstart
The event started with the tag team championship match.
The New Day challenged the Usos for the tag titles. There were several pinfalls attempt by both teams in an amazing clash between the two teams but The New Day shockingly came out victorious. The New Day has made a new record as it has become the only team which has been the WWE Raw tag team champions as well as WWE Smackdown tag team champions.
The next match was between the "King of Strong Styles" Shinsuke Nakamura and "The Lone Wolf" Baron Corbin. This match happened as a result of a long standing rivalry between Nakamura and Corbin since Baron attacked Shinsuke at Money In The Bank pay-per-view. The match between them ended in a disqualification as Corbin low blowed Nakamura when he found himself unable to conquer Shinsuke.
The winner as a result of disqualification was Shinsuke Nakamura. After the match ended, Corbin gave his finishing move "End of days" to Nakamura before leaving the ring.
Womens division
The next match was a fatal five way elimination match, Charlotte vs. Natalya vs. Tamina vs. Lana vs. Becky Lynch, to determine the number one contender to face Smackdown Women's Champion Naomi at Summerslam.
The match started with great energy and there was chaos all over the ring. At first, Becky Lynch eliminated Tamina and Lana by submission. Later, she was eliminated by Natalya who further eliminated Charlotte to become the number one contender for the WWE women championship match.
The fourth match was for the "United States Championship" between AJ Styles (champion) and Kevin Owens.
Styles became a champion two weeks ago at a house show against Kevin Owens in Madison Square garden. But this time, it was Kevin Owens night as he became the new United States champion taking his title back from AJ Styles.
After this there was a Flag Match between John Cena and The Bulgarian Brute "Rusev". This match was ended with Cena giving attitude adjustment to Rusev on the top of two tables and raising the Flag of America and winning the match.
Followed by this was the rematch between Sami Zayn and Mike Kanellis where Sami Zayn managed to win even after several distractions from Mike's wife Maria Kanellis, who was in Mike's corner during the match.
Punjabi Prison Match
Then comes the time for the main event of Battleground which was a Punjabi Prison match between Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton. This was a bloody match but in the end, the unthinkable happened as The Great Khali returned to help Jinder Mahal in winning the match.
