The next pay-per-view of WWE is set to take place this Sunday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The name of this pay-per-view is Wwe Battleground. This is Smackdown Live's pay-per-view which will be featuring some great matches with a Flag match and a Punjabi Prison match.
Superstars in action
Superstars like Randy Orton, John Cena, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Kevin Owens, The New Day, The Usos, Jinder Mahal, Baron Corbin and Rusev are involved in various kinds of matches. Female superstars like Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Lana, Tamina and Natalya will also be involved.
We will have a fatal five-way match for the women's division. The ongoing rivalries between Cena and Rusev, Orton and Mahal, Corbin and Nakamura, Usos and New Day, Charlotte, Natalya, Becky Lynch, Tamina and Lana will take a new turn.
Match Card for Battleground
1) Jinder Mahal Vs. Randy Orton - A Punjabi Prison match for the WWE Championship
The rivalry between Orton and Mahal has been now continuing for a long time. Randy Orton lost the championship belt to Jinder Mahal due to interference by the Singh brothers who were on Mahal's side. Next month, in a rematch for the WWE championship, things got more personal when the Singh brothers disrespected Randy's father Cowboy Bob Orton.
After that, Randy Orton has been after Jinder Mahal and is looking for another opportunity at the WWE title.
Looking at the circumstances, Shane McMahon gave Orton another rematch for the WWE championship against Jinder Mahal at Battleground. But the stipulation for that match is chosen by Jinder Mahal, who chose it to be a Punjabi Prison match. This match will be taking place after 10 years in WWE. Previously this match took place between The Great Khali and Batista in 2007.
2) John Cena Vs. Rusev - A Flag Match
Last time when John Cena wrestled in the ring was the time when He and Nikki Bella teamed up. They both competed in mixed tag team match at Wrestlemania 33 against The Miz and Maryse. The team of Cena and Nikki Bella won the match and Cena took some time off after that match. But Cena recently returned to Smackdown Live event on 4th of July.
He was interrupted by another returning superstar Rusev who disrespected America. Cena gave a challenge to Rusev then and there to compete in a flag match but Rusev refused. This match was later confirmed by Daniel Bryan and is scheduled for Battleground.
3) The New Day Vs. The Usos - Smackdown tag team championship match
The New Day came to Smackdown Live after the superstar shake up which took place a few months back. The New Day is the longest reigning WWE tag team champion. The New Day and The Usos were involved in a rap battle two weeks back which proved to be one of the best things between the two teams. The New Day won the rap battle.
4) AJ Styles Vs. Kevin Owens - United States championship
AJ Styles won the title at a house show in Madison Square Garden.
This shocked the wrestling fans all around the world.This is because this match was already scheduled for WWE Battleground but victory came for Styles earlier than expected. But there will be a match at WWE Battleground where they both will clash again.
5) Charlotte Vs. Becky Lynch Vs. Natalya Vs. Lana Vs. Tamina
There will be an elimination match amongst Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Lana and Tamina. The winner of this match will be facing Naomi at Summerslam.
6) Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Baron Corbin
There is an ongoing feud between Corbin and Nakamura since Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Therefore, Nakamura will be facing the Money in the Bank winner Baron Corbin at Battleground.
