The latest episode of WWE "SmackDown Live" featured two rematches from "Money in the Bank." In one match, "The Ravishing Russian" Lana got a rematch for the "SmackDown" women's title against champion Naomi. In another, the rest of the women's division had a women's "MITB" Ladder Match for the second time in the history of the division. In addition to those matches, a new match was set up for the "Battleground" PPV, while a special match was announced for next week's big July 4th episode of "SmackDown Live" to determine a new No. 1 contender for the U.S.
Championship. Here are the latest "SmackDown" results for June 27Th.
'SmackDown' match results
The Usos were able to defeat the team of Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder who were given an opportunity at becoming new No. 1 contenders for the tag team titles. This seems like it could lead to a potential heel turn down the road for one of the Hype Bros. Afterward, The New Day came out to get in the ring with The Usos and got them to agree to a championship match at Battleground.
After Lana put up a decent fight against women's champion Naomi at "MITB," she ultimately came up short in her quest to win the title. On tonight's "SmackDown," she had a rematch and attacked Naomi before the bell. Once the ref started the match, Lana attacked again, hoping to wear down the champion.
Eventually, Naomi made a quick comeback to kick Lana down and hit her springboard finisher off the corner for the win.
The Fashion Police tried to do a "Miami Vice" type interrogation of The Ascension to determine if they attacked Tyler Breeze last week on "SmackDown" or at the PPV. The interrogation went nowhere but provided some comedic fun with Ascension in a role they're not usually in.

Aiden English was in the ring for a bit of operatic singing, but "The Viper" Randy Orton soon came down to clear the ring. He would hijack the show for a bit demanding another shot at Jinder Mahal.
Eventually, the Commissioner Shane McMahon came to the ring and assured Orton he could have his rematch at "Battleground," but that the champion would choose the stipulation. Jinder Mahal came out to the stage with The Singh Brothers. He informed everyone that he and Orton will compete in the second-ever Punjabi Prison Match for the title.
Backstage, AJ Styles spoke with Daniel Bryan about Kevin Owens and the U.S. title. Owens showed up to tell Styles he's just a loser. Daniel Bryan said that Cena used to defend the U.S. title in real open challenges. He told Owens next week they'll have a battle royal on the July 4th episode with the winner becoming new No. 1 contender for the U.S. title. Owens was irritated by it and called it the "worst idea ever."

Mr.
Money in the Bank Baron Corbin had another match against Sami Zayn. While Zayn managed to jump over Corbin from the top rope, "The Lone Wolf" came back to grab Zayn and hit End of Days for the pinfall win. Backstage, Shinsuke Nakamura was watching the match and Dasha Fuentes asked about a possible Nakamura vs. Corbin match. Shinsuke said Corbin is "dangerous" but maybe he should be afraid of what he can do to him.
'MITB' ladder rematch
Early on in the show, Carmella and James Ellsworth were involved in the opening segment in the ring, complaining to Daniel Bryan about him stripping Carmela of the "MITB" briefcase she won at the "Money in the Bank" PPV. Ellsworth got in Bryan's face and said he thinks Bryan made up his injury because he's too scared to compete.
Bryan said he shouldn't have banned Ellsworth from ringside tonight. He told him instead he's banned from the arena, and then had security haul Ellsworth out of there.
The five women's competitors were in the second-ever ladder match in the "SmackDown" main event. That included the woman who thought she'd won at the PPV, Carmella, as well as Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Natalya, and Tamina. Carmella was targeted early on and eventually tossed over the commentators' table to keep her out of the ring.
The action got frantic with everyone getting involved at one point but ending up laid out on the outside of the ring after various collisions. The crowd chanted "This is Awesome" as "SmackDown" went to commercial break.
Towards the close of things, multiple women's superstars attacked Carmella. Natalya put the Sharpshooter on her and then Charlotte hit Natural Selection. It seemed Carmella was out of the match, and then Natalya battled Charlotte into the crowd. With Tamina already taken out and those two off fighting in the crowd, it came down to Becky and Carmella who were both down on the outside.

James Ellsworth rushed from out of the crowd to the ringside area and helped his girl Carmella into the ring. She couldn't make the climb at first due to the earlier Sharpshooter so Ellsworth tried to climb the ladder and get the case again.
This time, Becky Lynch came into the ring and pushed the ladder over causing Ellsworth to get crotched on the top rope and fall to the outside. Becky looked ready to win the match.
However, the crafty Carmella came into the ring and yanked Becky off a ladder. Becky seemed to tweak her knee but kicked Carmella out of the ring. She started to climb the ladder again, but "The Princess of Staten Island" returned with a steel chair and jabbed Becky's leg before smashing the chair on her back. Moments later, Carmella finally made the climb and grabbed the briefcase herself.
With that, Carmella wins the second-ever women's "MITB" ladder match and is "Ms. Money in the Bank." When will she cash in the opportunity?
