Offset, one part of the incredibly popular rap trio Migos, was nearly killed when the car he was driving lost control and hit a tree. The head-on collision sent Offset to the hospital in a neck brace, with family and friends fearing the worst. Thankfully, he was able to cheat death and is currently recovering. Pictures have now been released showing the aftermath of the accident.
He took to Instagram to share some words of gratitude for having survived such a terrifying accident.
“This is why I thank God Every day I could have been dead from this accident thank you all for you prayers all I can say is (G O D I S R E A L G E T W I T H H I M ) H E S A V E S L I V E S.”
What happened to Offset?
The damage to the car appears consistent with hitting a tree or pole head-on. Authorities are still investigating what actually caused the crash. Some have speculated that Offset may have been racing. According to authorities, drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash.
Cardi B, Offset's girlfriend and soon-to-be mother of his child, gave her own thoughts on the accident in a tweet that was quickly deleted.
"Crazy how Set had to swerve and hit a tree cause a crackhead was in the middle of the road trying to get hit or kill himself."
As far as she sees it, it was an unavoidable accident and Offset was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. This certainly seems plausible, though it is unknown why she would delete the tweet afterwards.
Big year for Migos
Offset, along with the rest of Migos, has been in the midst of an amazing ascent in the world of hip-hop. Their first album, "Culture," was a massive success. They recently released a follow-up, aptly titled "Culture 2," that has also received rave reviews so far.
The recent music video for "Walk It Talk It" is a hilarious and well done tribute to the days of Soul Train and other musically inspired variety shows of the 70's and 80's.
Literally everything the group touches these days turns to gold.
Outside of music, Offset and Cardi B are getting ready to welcome the next generation of Migos as their first child is soon to be born. Much like when super producer DJ Khaled welcomed his first born son into the world, this child will likely be hip-hop royalty from day one.
Hopefully the group will continue to put out great music in the future following this tragedy. Lives in the hip-hop world are often cut short by violence and other unfortunate events, so it will be interesting to see what Migos and Offset do after this.
