"Days of Our Lives" fans are about to see a shocking character recast. While recasting a character usually doesn't go over very well with fans of the NBC soap opera, there are exceptions to the rule such as fan favorite Billy Flynn stepping into the role of Chad DiMera. However, this time around fans may not be thrilled with the latest "DOOL" casting change.

Eileen Davidson out as Kristen DiMera

According to the latest "Days Of Our Lives" spoilers, the soap opera has recast the character of Kristen DiMera. Kristen, who has been played by Eileen Davidson for decades will return to Salem with a brand new look.

As many "DOOL" viewers know, Kristen has been on and off the canvas for years. She made her most recent return during a stunning storyline that brought Will Horton (Chandler Massey) back to the long-running soap.

Stacy Haiduk will step into the role

During Kristen's latest stint on the show, she showed up at the home of Susan Banks and hinted that her brother, EJ DiMera (formerly played by James Scott), was still alive. Now, Kristen is making a return to Salem, but actress Stacy Haiduk will reportedly be stepping into the role. Many soap opera fans may remember Stacy from her role as crazy Patty Williams on the soap powerhouse The "Young and the Restless." Now, she'll get a chance to reinvent herself as another wild and crazy character when she takes on Salem bad girl Kristen DiMera.

New face, new storyline?

There is no word on whether or not "Days of Our Lives" will address Kristen DiMera's new face. In past recasts the soap opera has included a character's new look into the storyline such as with Roman Brady and Philip Kiriakis. However, the usual course of action is just to recast the character and proceed as nothing has happened at all.

Recent 'DOOL' recasts

Some of the most recent "Days of Our Lives" recasts include that of Billy Flynn, who took over the role of Chad DiMera from Casey Deidrick back in 2014. Chad's on-screen wife, Abigail Deveraux-DiMera, is currently played by Marci Miller, who stepped into the character after fan favorite Kate Mansi left "DOOL" in 2016.

The character of Will Horton has also seen a couple of different looks in recent years. When Chandler Massey left the soap, Guy Wilson took over the role. However, Will was written off the show, only to return later with Massey back in the role.

Stacy Haiduk stepping into the role of Kristen DiMera for Eileen Davidson is sure to have some "Days of Our Lives" fans in a frenzy. However, with soap recasts you never can tell how it will play out.
