The fans of "When Calls the Heart" are still in shock over last night's finale when Daniel Lissing's character Jack was killed off. The cliffhanger the week before made it look like that would happen, but nobody was really sure that they would go through with it. Blasting News shared last night that Daniel made the choice to leave the show on his own, but now the fans want details. It turns out that he does have another project he is working hard on right now.
What is Daniel up to now?
Parade recently did an interview with Daniel Lissing and he shared a bit about what is going on with him.
He is turning a short film that he wrote into a feature film. This is called "Answers." Daniel explained that he is doing it, but it isn't easy. He said, "It is happening. Writing a script is hard, I’ve discovered. This particular project and what we’re trying to do is unique. When you’re writing something that is truly original it takes time. I won’t say we’re perfectionists, but we’re close to and so we want to do it right. So we’re taking our time to make sure it’s right." This has to be taking up a lot of his time.
Also about 18 months ago, he reached out to Hallmark and told them he wanted to do a movie with Erin Krakow who plays Elizabeth on "When Calls The Heart." He was hoping for a movie that was with totally different characters.
The fans have seen the chemistry between these two. This isn't happening for sure, but you never know. They will probably have to find the right film and see if the timing is right for them. This would be perfect if they could make it work sometime in the future. Hallmark always does a great job with their movies.
"When Calls the Heart" has to go on
The show will be a lot different without Daniel Lissing playing the role of Jack, but the show has to go on without him. He is moving on to other ventures and they have killed off Jack. That being said, they did share at the very end that Elizabeth is expecting her first child. A part of Jack will still be around in Coal Valley even after his death.
The fans are excited for this little twist, but it still would have been better if Jack was still around as well.

The new season won't be airing until sometime next year, so fans are going to have to wait a bit.
