Leah Messer was dealt a difficult hand when it was revealed she was pregnant with twins. Her story was featured on “16 and Pregnant,” which then allowed her to join “Teen Mom 2.” Viewers followed her story as she planned to welcome twins with Corey Simms. Being a teen mom wasn't something Messer was prepared for, let alone a teenage mom of twins. That was just the beginning of one of the most difficult journeys a mother could walk with her children.

The diagnosis

“Teen Mom 2” viewers watched as Leah Messer and Corey Simms found out that one of their little girls has a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy.

There have been plenty of doctors appointments filmed, setbacks, and accomplishments for little Aliannah Simms. Her twin sister, Aleeah was born healthy. She can do everything the other children her age can do while Ali hangs behind on a lot.

After only a year of marriage, Leah Messer and Corey Simms split up. There were plenty of rumors about why, but it came down to cheating. Messer wasn't ready to settle down and be married, so she stepped out on Simms. This complicated things for co-parenting. While they have been able to work things out, for the most part, Messer attempting to get Simms to accept what Aliannah's needs are has been a struggle. Getting a power chair for their daughter to use was a huge hang up for the dad.

Leah fought hard for her little girl, and eventually, the chair was bought and used.

It looks like things are still changing for Aliannah Simms. Leah Messer recently talked about her condition on Twitter. She revealed that while she was doing Ali's makeup, the little girl wondered what it would be like to see out of two eyes.

She is currently losing her vision due to muscular dystrophy. Ali has worn glasses for a long time now. Since Messer has been filming “Teen Mom 2,” there isn't much time where viewers remember the little girl not having glasses. This is a hard thing for Leah to hear. She is very supportive of her daughter, but her heart breaks when things like this come up.

Now that Ali is getting older, the differences between her and Aleeah are more noticeable. More questions are being asked, and Messer has to find the answers in a compassionate way for her little girl.
