Well, there you have it, folks - love is officially dead. If the folks in Hollywood can't stay together, after all, how can the rest of us do it?
channing tatum and Jenna Dewan are the latest to hit the skids. They released a statement to PEOPLE on Monday night - in the cover of the NCAA National Championship Game - announcing their separation, thus ending one of the most glamorous relationships in the celebrity fiefdom.
It marks yet another heartbreaking ending in Tinseltown.
Tatum and Dewan no more
In the statement to PEOPLE, the two said that they had "lovingly chosen to separate." They denied any rumors of anything "salacious" going on, instead just saying that the two were headed in opposite directions. They reserved the right to comment on the breakup in the future, although Tatum and Dewan's priority will remain raising Everly, their five-year-old daughter.
The two began dating shortly after meeting on the set of "Step Up in 2006. In 2009, they wed, the first marriage for each of them. The two often swooned over each other, both in public and on social media, building the idea that the two had a fairytale marriage, fairytale family, and fairytale life.
Tatum and Dewan shattered that notion on Monday.
Truth be told, the tea leaves of this breakup were laying around, with the two making less appearances with one another at major events. Dewan went to the Vanity Fair Oscars party without her hubby on her arm. She also told Health magazine that keeping up the relationship was hard work, just like it was for other couples.
Just last month, they appeared together at the Kids' Choice Awards to promote a new movie on behalf of Tatum - it was their last public appearance as a couple.
Another one bites the dust
It really feels like it's breakup season for the Celebrities we all idolize. Many are still reeling from the breakup of actors Chris Pratt and Anna Faris, even though that happened eight months ago; Faris has since moved on, while Pratt's dating life remains more mysterious.
Other couples that have already broken up since the start of 2018 include Olivia Culpo/Danny Amendola, Amber Rose/21 Savage, Jennifer Aniston/Justin Theroux, Zayn Malik/Gigi Hadid, and Nas/Nicki Minaj.
The breakup of Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan after nine years of marriage might be the most devastating one of all, though. It's going to take some time for us to stop reeling from this major 2018 split.
