channing tatum and wife Jenna Dewan have announced that they are splitting after nine years of marriage. The former couple confirmed the shocking news to People via a joint statement on Monday, April 2. Fans believed the celebrities were the perfect couple, however, after nearly a decade of marriage things have changed drastically.

This break up once again proves things are not always as they appear

Channing and Jenna decided to share the sad news revealing that they believed it was odd that they have to share this type of news publicly, however, it is a "consequence of the lives we've chosen to lead." it is a "consequence of the lives we've chosen to lead." They went on to state that they choose to tell the facts as they are instead of the "alternate facts" that tend to show up in the media online.

Channing and Jenna have no plans to comment on their split again

"We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly."

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan close out the statement by saying they will not be commenting any further on this private matter and thank everyone in advance for respecting their family's privacy.

Channing also shared the news on Twitter with his social media followers.

There, of course, has been some speculation leading up to the couple's Split confirmation. It was suggested that there was some trouble in paradise after Dewan showed up solo at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party.

When questioned, Jenna stated simply that she was enjoying a night off and Tatum was home on "daddy-duty."

Hopefully, this will be one Hollywood celebrity couple who can follow through with the quest to end their marriage as "best friends" and remain, friends, as they continue to parent their young 5-year-old daughter Everly together in a healthy and happy manner.

Channing and Jenna were married on July 11, 2009, at Church Estates Vineyards, in Malibu, California. They have a daughter who was born in London in 2013.

Tatum made his film debut in "Coach Carter," and is best known for his dance films including "Step Up" and the "Magic Mike" films.
