Fans are shocked to hear the news today that Actor R. Lee Ermey has passed away at the age of 74. When the news first hit the Internet, some people wondered if it was a hoax, but The Hollywood Reporter is sharing that R. Lee Ermey really did pass away on April 15, 2018. This news has been confirmed by multiple news outlets and it not a hoax at all.

The news about his death was originally released on Twitter by his longtime manager. Fans know R. Lee Ermey best from his role on "Full Metal Jacket." Quotes from this movie are ones that will never be forgotten that people still say all the time.

He played Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in the movie. This is the role that made most fans fall in love with his acting.

The Twitter post said, "It is with deep sadness that I regret to inform you all that Ermey ("The Gunny") passed away this morning from complications of pneumonia. He will be greatly missed by all of us. Semper Fi, Gunny. Godspeed." Fans did not even know that anything was wrong with him, but R. Lee Ermey had been getting older.
