Netflix has finally revealed the new release date for one of the most anticipated Marvel Series. Earlier this month, “The Punisher” was postponed indefinitely after the tragic shooting incident in Las Vegas took place.
After a few weeks since the announcement of the delay, Netflix has finally decided to release the new web television series starring Jon Bernthal, who is set to portray the main role of Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher. A new video teaser has been released, featuring new footage from the show and a new premiere date.
‘The Punisher’ postponed after Las Vegas shooting
The upcoming Marvel series was in the works as early as April last year and the production concluded the filming a year later. Netflix initially planned to release the new series sometime this month but opted to delay it after the terrible Las Vegas Strip shooting occurred on October 1.
Marvel and Netflix announced the show’s postponement and even canceled their participation at this year’s New York Comic Con, which took place on October 5 until October 8. Along with the announcement, initial promotional materials that were released obscured the original premiere date of the series.
Netflix and Marvel’s join statement explained that they found it inappropriate to release a series that focused on a vigilante because it somehow mirrors the recent senseless violent killing in Las Vegas by a gunman identified as Stephen Paddock, whose motive remains unknown.
‘The Punisher’ premieres in November
With the show getting delayed, Netflix and Marvel promised that the series will still be aired later this year and the new trailer has revealed that the premiere date has been pushed to next month. “The Punisher” has been rescheduled to release on November 17.
The story is centered on Marvel’s infamous anti-hero called the Punisher, an identity that will be donned by war veteran Frank Castle.
He’s a vigilante who waged a one-man war against a mob of crimes after witnessing the killing of his wife and two children.
Though he usually gets results, the Punisher is well-known for his methods, employing unlawful ways in order to fight crimes. He has no qualms against kidnapping, murder, coercion, extortion, and torture as long as he gets the job done.
Bernthal’s portrayal of Frank Castle debuted in the second installment of another Marvel web series, “Daredevil.” However, “The Punisher” was already in development even before Marvel’s “Daredevil” Season 2 was released.
