Even to the degree of being a good brain surgeon, it's a different story when the doctor itself has the tumor. In the case of Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone), she doubt's if she'll ever make it out alive. After "Grey's Anatomy" Season 14, episode 3, featured the details of her illness, it's time for the doctor to go under the knife with her friends gathered around to support her.
But for Amelia, she knows the intricacies of the procedure and starts to talk to Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) about it.
Amelia tells Meredith her fears, that she won't be able to make it out alive. Meredith, like a good friend, assures Amelia that she is not going to die. "Grey's Anatomy" writers are tight-lipped when it comes to the next episodes and the reason for Amelia's illness still confused fans whether it's a sign of Scorsone's departure or something else.
Amelia's brain tumor story arc
In a previous report by the Bustle, there's one likely reason for Amelia's Brain Tumor and it has nothing to do with her leaving the show.
Apparently, executive producer Krista Vernoff hinted on a more compelling story behind Amelia's illness. According to Vernoff, Amelia and Owen's (Kevin McKidd) marriage has been on the rocks and can possibly be mended through a renewed relationship brought by the crisis.
That said, it's likely that Amelia will not die but her illness will open new doors to a reconciliation. Meanwhile, let's check on the rest of the doctors at Grey Sloan Hospital wherein, the doctors will meet new interns on this season of "Grey's Anatomy." At least 14 new interns arrived at the hospital headed by Sam (Jeanine Mason), Casey (Alex Blue Davis), Vik (Rushi Kota), Taryn (Jaicy Elliot), Dahlia (Sophia Taylor Ali), and Levi (Jake Borelli).
New interns on 'Grey's Anatomy Season 14'
Interestingly, Levi has already made a huge mark on "Grey's Anatomy" Season 14 after she hooked up with Jo (Camilla Luddington), an intern that still lives with his mom and yes, the intern that slept with Jo in the season premiere. Additionally, it looks like Chief Bailey (Chandra Wilson) will retain her post after Harper Avery, who fired her after agreeing to continue funding the hospital died while he's in a meeting.
Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) and Carina DeLuca (Stefania Spampinato) looks like they're heading for a roller coaster ride as Arizona proves, Carina is one feisty woman who can work her way around her. Her bizarre ideas, on the other hand, never ceases to Amaze Arizona.
