It looks like the Taylor Swift-Kanye West feud has no sign of abating soon as many fans are up in arms over the release date of Taylor’s new album “Reputation,” on November 10, which happens to be the same day West’s mother Donda died. This group of Kanye fans, in essence, believe Swift’s choice of release date is one of her petty ways of getting back or taking a stab at Kanye.
But the accusation, however, was denied by Taylor Swift’s camp. A source close to the situation told the entertainment website Complex that “there is no correlation.” The source said, "It is standard practice that releases come out on Fridays and we locked in this release date based on other Universal Music Group releases."
There is no official comment from Kanye West’s camp on this particular issue.
Hey Mama Day
In order to steal the thunder from Taylor Swift’s “Reputation” release, a group of Kanye fans on Reddit organized "Hey Mama" Day scheduled November 10. What they intend to do is to make Kanye single, Hey Mama, the top ranking daily stream song on the very same day.
They hope the single will top any other Taylor Swift’s song on the day she releases her 6th album.
A Spotify “Hey Mama” playlist was already created for the planned action.
A Facebook event page “Hey Mama” was also created by fans to outdo Taylor's first week numbers, and show their love for Kanye. The page creator said, “..let's all devote the 10th of November to listening to nothing but "Hey Mama" for an entire day with the aim of hopefully charting above Taylor's album, and showing our respect to Donda West on the 10th anniversary of her death.”
As of this time, there are about 3,700 people who indicated they are going.
Record breaking single
Meanwhile Taylor Swift’s single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” which was released ahead of the "Reputation" album continues to break records.
According to Billboard, Taylor Swift's new single is expected to reach No. 1 on next week's Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Sept. 16). Billboard is projecting that the single will earn the highest weekly sales, and possibly the top streaming total, for any song in 2017.
The lyric video of “Look What You Made Me Do”, which was released last August 25 got an initial 19 million views to become the most-watched lyric video in its first day of release. The single also set a record on Spotify for first-day streaming, with nearly 8 million plays in 24 hours.
The “Look What You Made Me Do” official video released during the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards had 43.2 million views within 24 hours. It topped the 27.7 million one day views Adele’s “Hello” set last October 2015.
