“Rick and Morty” Season 3 is ending. The production is set to air its finale this Sunday and fans are again wondering when the popular adult sitcom will return. It can be remembered that it took over a year, actually almost two years of waiting before Season 3 premiered. Now, many are left in the dark about whether the series has been renewed for another season. There has been no announcement about Rick and Morty” Season 4 yet. The series co-creator, Dan Harmon, teased that there are chances for fans to see more of Rick and Morty’s adventure in another season.

Dan Harmon confirms next season

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harmon admitted that they were supposed to create 14 episodes for Season 3 but fell short on delivering. That is why the series is ending with its 10th and final episode. The "Rick and Morty" co-creator blamed himself for only doing 10 instead of 14.

Harmon confessed that it was his idea to do 14, but he admitted that he was wrong to think that they could. However, he is taking the challenge to prove himself in the first 10 episodes of the next season. He wants to show his colleagues, the production team, and the network that they could create more episodes.

"I never got this far [working on NBC’s] Community. I fell apart in season 3 of Community and got fired in season 4," Harmon told EW.

"Now I’m about to do season 4 of Rick and Morty and want to prove that I’ve grown."

Delay and cancellation issues of Season 3

Meanwhile, the current season of the series was delayed for almost two years and this has prompted the speculation that it could be its last. When the season premiered, Adult Swim aired its first episode on April 1, a Saturday, when most people were out, and the network didn't make any announcement about it.

Fans were surprised, but thankfully the network aired the episode again for others to catch up.

Since then it took months before the next episodes aired regularly. In fact, there were rumors that the series has been canceled and may not be finished. But thankfully, those reports were false and the current season is already prepping for its finale.

Meanwhile, Harmon addressed the delay and cancellation rumors by saying that it took them a long time to write the story. In a series of tweets, he convinced the fans that they took their time to create the best series because they didn't want it to be worse than the second and first season.
