The “Creative Arts Emmy Awards” is over and a lot of big shows won this year. The event happened on Saturday and Sunday at the Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater. Which of the popular TV shows dominated the awards? Here are the winners.

Highlights

Tom Hanks greeted everybody at the Sunday event. He made a small speech that made the audience reflect on the importance of every bit of work there is in production.

He applauded everybody who worked in production, from casting and editing, down to the smallest job like those of assistants who give people coffee during breaks. This was a little moment they all deserved.

Carmen Cuba, casting director from “Stranger Things” who got the Emmy for best casting in a drama, together Chase Paris and Tara Feldstein Bennett also made a little speech. The trio conveyed the importance of standing up for our beliefs especially with the current state of the country. They also encouraged the audience to stand together and fight for everybody’s acceptance.

Gerald McRaney who won his very first Emmy Award for a role in “This Is Us” also shared that his thoughts on the win.

According to the actor, winning the award is amazing but it’s not the beginning or end of the world for him. An Emmy award is a trophy and he compared his win to the icing on a very delicious cake.

Lastly, as much as he’d like to have made it, Hank Azaria failed to attend the event. He needed to go to Florida to assist his mother because of Hurricane Irma.

Big shows won the night

Creative Arts Emmy Awards” handed out a lot of trophies that night. The first show to snag an Emmy was “Saturday Night Live,” which won the best guest actor and actress in a comedy category. They were won by Melissa McCarthy and Dave Chapelle who gave amazing appearances in the show. Other than that the two big awards, “SNL” also go three awards in other categories.

For the best guest acting awards for drama, Gerald McRaney from “This is Us” and “The Handmaid’s Tale” Alexis Bladel, took away trophies.

Stranger Things” and “Westword” won five awards during the event. They are on par with “SNL” with the number of awards and won a bunch of Emmy’s from best music supervision to best hairstyling. Each television series won five awards at the event.

“The Night Of,” “13th”, and “Samurai Jack” won four Emmys. “Hairspray Live!,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Veep,” “Big Little Lies,” and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” won three awards. It was clearly a night to remember for these remarkable shows.

However, the night was completely stolen by HBO who dominated the Emmys with 19 wins. Netflix followed the cable network winning 16 Emmys from the event.
