Now that "Rick and Morty" is off to a new season, fans have another thing going, and it has everything to do with the special Szechuan sauce featured in the series. The said sauce, which was first introduced when Disney promoted "Mulan" in 1998, is apparently making a comeback, all thanks to chef Mike of McDonald's and the prodding of series co-creator Justin Roiland. But what's exactly in the Szechuan Sauce that makes it very popular with the series fans?
Fascination on a special sauce
According to the Fox News, the incident that triggered the fascination for the sauce was when Rick professed his fascination with the sauce.
Apparently, the mad scientist and grandfather to Morty is so influential that McDonald's, the creator of the sauce, has to walk down memory lane all the way to its inventory to dig on the sauce recipe. Now, fans are encouraging the fast food chain to bring back the sauce for good.
McDonald's did not disappoint fans after it reintroduced the limited Szechuan Sauce first, to Justin Roiland who managed to post a photo of the sauce on twitter. Meanwhile, the 1.81kg sauce is also labeled with some witty referral to the show "Rick and Morty" Season 3, part of which says, "Do not serve to mad scientists traveling with their teenage grandson; potential non-scientist versions of mad scientists from an alternate dimension; and Jerry."
The petition to bring back the Szechuan Sauce
Meanwhile, a petition to fully bring back "Rick and Morty" Season 3's popular sauce has been launched on the change.org website wherein, fans of the show are encouraging everyone to sign the petition.
McDonald's, on the other hand, posted three extra 5Gal sauce that will be given to lucky fans in the future. And to show you just how popular the sauce is, according to AdAge, the photo of the Szechuan on Facebook already has a total 21,000 Likes and more than 26,000 Shares.
A packet of the sauce is also believed to have fetched a staggering amount of $14,000 on eBay shortly after the Adult Swim network aired the first episode of "Rick and Morty" Season 3 entitled "The Rickshank Rickdemtion." As of writing, the fast food chain has not confirmed whether they will continue to serve the sauce or for promotional purposes only.
'Rick and Morty" Season 3 premiered on the Adult Swim network and Netflix on July 30, 2017, however, the first episode of the show has previously been aired by Adult on April Fool's Day this year.
