Forbes has released their official list for the Top 10 highest-paid actresses for 2017 and there's a new one sitting on the top spot. Jennifer Lawrence was on the top of the list for 2016 but currently, she is down to the third spot. Understandably, Lawrence didn't have a lot of movies for 2017 and the "Hunger Games" franchise already faded out. Speaking of the third spot, Scarlett Johannson was the third highest paid actress for 2016 but surprisingly, she is not even part of the list for this year. The actress who usurped Jennifer Lawrence's throne in the top spot was no other than Emma Stone.

It's hard to deny that 2017 was a big year for Emma Stone, with "La La Land" boosting her popularity not only among the fans but also in award-giving bodies as well. It's also worth noting that Stone wasn't even part of the highest-paid actresses list last year.

Who else made the list of the highest-paid actresses of 2017? Are there other newcomers? Who were the repeaters?

The bottom list

Amy Adams placed last on the list of the highest-paid actresses of 2017. According to Cinema Blend, Forbes estimated Adams' earnings to be at $11.5 million pre-tax. For some reason, Julia Roberts took the 9th place while Cate Blanchett was at the eighth spot even though they were both tied with $12 million as their earnings.

Similarly, Charlize Theron and Emma Watson took the 7th and 6th place respectively, with their respective earnings tied at $14 million each. Just like Emma Stone, Emma Watson can also consider 2017 as one of the most successful years after the Harry Potter franchise. Being the leading lady of Disney's "Beauty And The Beast" live-action movie has certainly attributed to her ranking for the highest-paid actresses of 2017.

Who made it to the top 5?

Mila Kunis comes in at top 5 with an impressive $15.5 million. Melissa McCarthy comes in at top 4 with $18 million. Jennifer Lawrence settles at the third spot with $24 million dollars. Surprisingly, another Jennifer joins the top 5 highest paid actresses of 2017 - Jennifer Aniston. The former "Friends" actress earned a whopping $25.5 million.

As mentioned earlier, Emma Stone tops the list of the highest-paid actresses of 2017. The 28-year old actress made an impressive $26 million dollars. However, a lot of fans have noticed that although Stone is on the top of the list, her total earnings were actually $20 million short of what Jennifer Lawrence earned last year. Does it mean that the women in Hollywood have been paid less for their roles in 2017? That remains to be a hot topic for discussion and debate.
