After all the social media hype and several theories that came along with Taylor Swift's puzzling ten-second video of a snake, news about her upcoming album has finally been released. Her upcoming album, entitled "Reputation," will be released on November 10 and her very first single from the album, "Look What You Made Me Do," was released last night. After three years of hiatus, Taylor Swift has finally released a new single and the lyric video on YouTube has already 470,000 views and counting. Even before "Look What You Made Me Do" has been released, fans were already speculating Taylor's first song from her new album might have something to do with the people who have tainted her reputation.
For starters, it looks like Taylor has a thing for people whose names start with K - Katy Perry, Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian. It's definitely just a confidence but it's certainly something worth noting. That said, "Look What You Made Me Do" lyrics may have just confirmed the speculations that it is a song aimed to throw shade at Taylor's enemies.
No more 'Ms. Nice Gal'
In the early years of Taylor Swift's career, she spewed an image of a pristine, innocent girl, who mostly sang about her heartaches and small town dreams. However, as years passed, Taylor became more edgy and spunky, which has clearly influenced her music as well.
However, in her last album, "1989," she slowly began to embrace a more gothic and vengeful look, perhaps in an effort to get back at those who have demeaned her reputation and accused her of being a manipulative celebrity.
Her single, "Bad Blood," showed her in a tough superhero aura, with fans noticing all her references to the main enemy, Katy Perry.
However, it looks like "Look What You Made Me Do" is not aimed at the "Swish Swish" singer and is instead meant to be a diss track for Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. According to Rolling Stone, the song's lyrics somewhat had a reference to West's controversial song, "Famous," which was the latest feud that he, Tylor and Kim Kardashian were embroiled in.
The old Taylor is dead
Fans are excitedly anticipating Swift's new image as the song itself have referenced the old Taylor to be dead. Some of the poignant lyrics of the newly released single involve Swift singing about being made to play the role of a fool and touching some issues about new drama and karma. It's only the first song out of her "Reputation" album but it looks like the fight between Swift, West, and Kardashian are still in the process of heating up.
