"Dance Moms" and its future may hang in the balance, but that isn't stopping star Kendall Vertes from continuing to pursue a career in entertainment. The young star, who was often overlooked by her teacher, Abby Lee Miller, has moved out of the shadows and into the spotlight, and will be appearing in a new film entitled "Anastasia: Once Upon a Time." In a recent Instagram Live event, the teen told her audience that she had no plans to return to "Dance Moms," but wasn't sure if she was going to return to regular school or continue to be homeschooled.

As the star has announced that she will be going on tour with some of the cast of "Dance Moms" this year, it is likely she will still be educated via a tutor.

Kendall on the set of 'Anastasia: Once Upon a Time'

Kendall's new film, "Anastasia: Once Upon a Time," tells the story of the lost Princess Anastasia Romanov and her mythical escape from the Russian government after her entire family was executed in 1917. Although the story isn't quite clear, Variety reports that the action takes place in both 1917 and in 1988, and that the heroine Anastasia finds herself befriended by a young American girl in the future. Anastasia will be played by Emily Carey, who took on the role of Young Diana in "Wonder Woman." It is uncertain what role Kendall Vertes will take in the film, as IMBD does not list her as having a character.

However, in her Instagram posts about filming, the young star is decked out in gear from the 1980s, so it is likely she will be portraying one of the children in the future and not one of Anastasia's three older sisters. The movie will be directed by Blake Harris.

The young star moves on from 'Dance Moms'

Kendall Vertes has not opened up much about her exit from "Dance Moms," but it appears the star is moving on from the show.

During a recent Instagram Live event, the star told fans that she wanted to become a triple threat and that she felt she had conquered dancing and singing, so she wanted to try acting as her next big move. She hinted that she would be in two films in the near future, but did not disclose either one. However, we now know she will be a 1980s teen in the upcoming "Anastasia" film.

The star has been in a couple of original singles and music videos but has not necessarily enjoyed the same success as her "Dance Moms" co-stars Chloe Lukasiak and Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler. However, this may be a step in the right direction for the star, who is hoping for big things in her future.
