Sunday's airing of "Game of Thrones" season 7 episode 4 showed Tyrion lannister (Peter Dinklage) nervously watching as his older brother, Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), fought against Daenerys Targaryen's (Emilia Clarke) dragon and Dothraki army. Tyrion muttered under his breath for his brother to move out of the way, lest he becomes dragon toast. He did not wish for his brother to die even as Jaime led the enemy's soldiers.
The Lannister brothers on "Game of Thrones" are on opposing sides in a war that their sister Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) started.
But ever since Tyrion was driven out of the Lannister's fold in season 4, he and Jaime remained under good terms.
Was Tyrion Lannister's behavior in the last episode an indication that he might betray Daenerys Targaryen, the queen he serves, in favor of his brother, who is the only Lannister that regards him as a family? Will Tyrion betray Daenerys once a tense situation arises that involves Jaime?
The prophecy says he will betray her
According to Elite Daily, a theory hatched by "Game of Thrones" fans stated that Tyrion Lannister would betray Daenerys Targaryen. It is alleged in a prophecy that the queen received during her visit to the House of the Undying in the earlier seasons.
Daenerys will apparently be betrayed "once for blood and once for gold and once for love," according to the prophecy.
“Game of Thrones” fans believe that Tyrion fits all three presumptions.
Once for blood means Tyrion will favor Jaime over Daenerys Targaryen because blood is thicker than water. Once for gold means, Tyrion will always favor a Lannister, whose family color is gold. Once for love means Tyrion Lannister loves his family above anything else, so that means he will choose Jaime over Daenerys.
But is Jaime even alive?
These assumptions, however, could only happen if Jaime survived the last battle. As viewers saw in the final scene of "Game of Thrones" season 7 episode 4, Jaime was sinking in the water after trying to evade the dragon's fire.
Spoilers reveal, however, that Jaime will survive and will be able to return to King's Landing in "Game of Thrones" season 7 episode 5.
Tyrion Lannister will arrange to meet with him with the help of Bronn (Jerome Flynn) and Davos (Liam Cunningham). He will ask his brother to talk to Cersei to surrender to Daenerys Targaryen, but Jaime will not agree.
Spoilers from the Green Chili also stated that Cersei would find out she’s pregnant again with Jaime’s baby. How that will figure into the show moving forward is still unclear.
“Game of Thrones” airs Sunday nights at 9:00 on HBO. There are three more episodes left and the season will culminate on Aug. 27.
