The TV ShowGame of Thrones” has become highly popular since it debuted on April 17, 2011, on HBO. It’s known for its complex yet entertaining plot, great battle scenes and for its nudity as well. The series is based on the book titled, “A Song of Ice and Fire” by George R.R. Martin. As fans anticipate the show’s seventh season, here are a few things about everybody’s favorite dwarf, Tyrion Lannister played by actor Peter Dinklage, in the book that did not make it to the series.

Tyrion has certain characteristics in the book that was never shown on “Game of Thrones” that would have made him less likable by fans.

Therefore, if you are one of his die-hard fans - please be warned and read with caution.

The book’s dark side of Tyrion

Tyrion has always been a fan-favorite because of his wit, humor, compassion and rational thinking. Although, he’s a little rough-around-the-edges as he is also known for his binge-drinking and enjoys the company of whores.

However, did you know that the book’s version of Tyrion has a much darker side?

In the book, Tyrion had Bronn kill a man, chop the body and be cooked in a stew. Although the poor guy, named Symon Silver Tongue, had it coming as he blackmailed Tyrion and threatened to expose his relationship with Shae.

Tyrion’s true motivation for killing his father

Tyrion never had a real relationship with his father, Tywin.

The father and son had so many arguments that Tyrion ended up killing his father.

In the story, Jaime has set up his dwarf brother to save a prostitute named Tysha, which he hired, from being raped. Tyrion falls in love with Tysha and marries her. Jaime explains to Tywin that Tysha was a prostitute and married Tyrion for his money.

As punishment, Tyrion was forced to watch his prostitute-wife be raped by Tywin’s guards before Tyrion even had sex with her. However, in the book, it was revealed that Tyrion’s wife was not actually a prostitute but just a young commoner that truly loved him. This has become Tyrion’s motivation for killing his father.

Tyrion loses his nose in the book

In “Game of Thrones”, Tyrion only had a nasty scar after the Battle of the Blackwater. However, in the book’s version, Tyrion was disfigured and loses his nose during the battle that would have made him less attractive in the TV show. Thankfully, he gets to keep his nose.

“Game of Thrones” season seven is set to premiere on July 16, 2017, on HBO.
