Game of Thrones” fans have been asking ‘Where is Gendry?’ since Season 3 ended. He was rowing a boat to escape from Melissandre who was going to kill him. Recently in Season 7, in “Eastwatch”, Ser Davos found Gendry in King’s Landing and he joined Jon in the mission beyond the Wall.

Fans have also been wondering and asking ‘Where is Nymeria?’ Arya had to force her Direwolf to leave, back in Season 1, to protect her from Cersei, who ordered the direwolf’s execution. As Nymeria was nowhere to be found, Lady (Sansa’s direwolf) was killed in her place instead.

In the second episode of Season 7 “Stormborn”, Arya was finally reunited with Nymeria. Arya was setting up camp in the middle of a forest and her horse was startled by several wolves. Before the wolves could attack Arya, the pack was silenced by their leader – who turned out to be Nymeria. Arya invited Nymeria to come home with her, but the direwolf left with her pack.

Nymeria is one of the two remaining direwolves in the show, the other being Jon Snow’s Ghost. But, where is Ghost?

Missing direwolf

Ghost was last seen in the early episodes of Season 6. Ghost remained beside his master’s body when he was dead and was the first to witness Jon come back to life. He went with Jon when he left Castle Black and the Night’s Watch, and that was the last time Ghost was seen.

Bryan Cogman, the “Game of Thrones” writer, said on Twitter that Jon and Ghost were supposed to have a scene in “Stormborn” as well, like Arya and Nymeria. There weren’t other details given, but fans have speculated that the scene would be Jon bidding Ghost farewell before heading to Dragonstone. Sadly, the scene didn’t make the final episode.

In “Eastwatch”, Sansa mentioned Ghost. She confided her frustration to Arya and said: “He couldn’t leave the North and expect it to just sit and wait for him like Ghost.” So, Ghost probably is somewhere in Winterfell, while Jon is in Dragonstone petting dragons.

Expensive

It was previously reported that adding direwolves to the scenes are remarkably expensive and difficult.

Entertainment Weekly has reported that making direwolves appear realistic is the challenge as it takes more time and resources to create compared to a large scaly dragon.

In the “Battle of the Bastards” (S06E09), Ghost missed out due to budget. The episode director, Miguel Sapocknik, previously explained to Business Insider, that Ghost was originally going to be in the battle, but it was a time-consuming and expensive character to bring to life. He continued by saying that they had to choose between Wun-Wun and Ghost, and the giant won.

With “Game of Thrones” coming to its end, Ghost will have to show up one way or another.
