The joint statement was short but real and straight to the point as it revealed that they have been trying to fix things for a long time and they are disappointed with how things turned out.
They have a 4-year old son, Jack, who was mentioned in the joint statement as the main reason why they tried so hard to keep their relationship intact. The statement ended on a positive note saying that they will always love and respect each other.

Some fans believe that those statements may have already been clues leading up to their divorce announcement.
Faris elaborated that although she may play bubbly and funny characters on screen, there are times when she really feels lonely and she ends up feeling very distant from her usual self. She admitted that she gets uncomfortable during red carpet events but when she's already in the moment, she just psychs herself to just grin and bear it.
