The whirlwind romance

Stan Lee met Joan when she was married to another man. When he got out of the army his cousin told him about this model who he should take to lunch.

This model was Betty but when Joan answered the door Stan was enamored. He took her out for lunch and subsequently proposed to her.

Joan was unhappy with her marriage and fled with Stan Lee to Nevada. Once there they had to establish residency before Joan was able to divorce her husband. One hour after Joan was granted her divorce she and Stan Lee married in the courtroom next door.

Their romance was a whirlwind event and they subsequently had two daughters together, one of whom died three days after her birth back in 1953.

Joan Lee lived a good life, starting off her career as a hat model. She then became a writer and wrote the novel "The Pleasure Palace" in 1987. She was a great support for Stan and encouraged his career in the comic industry.
