"Riverdale" is a Netflix original series which was adapted from the "Archie" comics. The show was released online in 2016 and gained an immediate cult following. The series has been picked up for a second season and fans can not wait until it airs. The Release Date for the show has been confirmed as October 11, 2017. Fans won't have that long to wait before the "Riverdale" gang are back on the small screen.
Teasers for the second season of the Netflix original show
It has been confirmed over Twitter that the first episode of season two has been finished.
The "Riverdale" episode is titled "A Kiss Before Dying" and will take place immediately after the events of the Season 1 finale where Archie's dad was shot in the diner. Further episode titles have been revealed such as "Nighthawks", "The Watcher in the Woods", "The Town That Dreaded Sundown" and "When a Stranger Calls".
According to NME, the second season of "Riverdale" will have a total of 22 episodes. The second season will feature a much darker side to the character of Archie Andrews and Jughead will find himself struggling between the Southside and his friends at Riverdale High. Show runners have also confirmed that the Veronica-Betty-Archie love triangle will, as always, continue in this season of "Riverdale".
Cast news for 'Riverdale' Season 2
The "Riverdale" team has made some announcements in terms of its cast. As many fans already know Ross Butler will be leaving the show due to his commitments to "13 Reasons Why". His character of Reggie has been taken over by actor Charles Melton. It has been confirmed that Skeet Ulrich who plays Jughead's father on the series will also be returning in Season 2.
Does this mean that he will find a way out of jail?
The executive producer of "Riverdale" Sarah Schecter has stated that there is a lot more to be explored with the character of FP. She expanded on this saying that fans have only really seen the first layer to his character and that there is certainly plenty more to come. Character Kevin Kellner will be returning as well as actor Casey Cott reprises the role of the sheriff's son.
It has also been confirmed that Molly Ringwald, who plays Archie's mother, will also be reprising her role.
Season 2 of "Riverdale" returns in October. This season is set to be much weird and darker than the first season of the series. Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of their favorite character and are dying to know what will happen next.
