“Droughtlander” is almost over. After a year since Season 2 of “Outlander”, Starz has announced the premiere date of season 3. Fans also got to watch the Season 3 trailer of the show. From the trailer, fans can already expect another great season ahead. “Outlander” will also have a panel in San Diego Comic-Con.

“Outlander” is based on the novel series written by Diana Gabaldon and Season 3 is based on the third book in the series, “Voyager.” The sci-fi romantic series follows the story of Claire Randall, played by Catriona Balfe, who goes on an adventure after traveling back in time and falling in love with Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan.

In Season 2, Claire was sent back to her time period in 1968, meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie is preparing for the upcoming Battle Of Culloden. Claire was also pregnant with Jamie’s child, who she raises with her husband Frank Randall, played by Tobias Menzies. Twenty years later, Claire tells her daughter Brianna, played by Sophie Skelton, the truth about the time traveling and Jamie. In the Season 2 finale, Claire finds out that Jamie has survived the battle and is alive.

Season 3 details

The third season of “Outlander” will be 13 episodes long. The story will continue in 1948 when Claire gave birth to Brianna with Frank at her side. From the trailer, Frank and Claire are seen arguing.

Frank agonizes that Claire has changed so much and is still living in the past, but he clearly still loves his wife.

Season 3 will show how Claire’s life went by without Jamie, and with Frank. Claire’s family will be moving to Boston and she becomes a doctor. She will also find a friend in Joe Abernathy, played by Wil Johnson.

The third season will largely be about Jamie and Claire trying to find their ways back into each other. According to TV Guide, when Jamie and Claire find their way back to each other, it will be because of Lord John Grey. Meanwhile, in 1968, Claire is helped by Brianna and Roger Wakefield. In the trailer, it seems that Brianna and Roger, played by Richard Rankin, are getting along very well.

The Battle of Culloden

Season 3 will be opening with the Battle of Culloden according to “Outlander” creator Ronald Moore’s interview with Entertainment Weekly. Although the books of the series skipped much of the battle, the show’s producers didn’t want to miss the chance to show the fans an amazing battle. “We should give the audience some sense of what happened on that moor, ” said Moore.

At the battle, Jamie will be facing off against his arch enemy, Black Jack Randall. In the previous season, Claire already told Black Jack Randall that he is going to die at the Battle of Culloden. Jaime will be having a hard time this season. In the trailer, it looks like his sister, Jenny, betrayed him and got arrested by the Red Coats.

He will be spending time in prison where he meets Lord John Grey, played by David Berry. Jaime will also be going on with his life without Claire and their child.

Outlander” Season 3 premieres on September 10 on Starz.
