It has been more than a year since Season 2 of Starz's sci-fi romance series 'Outlander' began and season 3 is still months away. 'Outlander' follows the story of Claire Randall (Catriona Balfe) as she travels back in time to the 18th century, finds adventure and falls in love with Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).
In the finale of Season 2, Claire is back in 1968. She and her daughter Brianna visited Scottland. Brianna meets Rogerwakefield and they bond while researching about the Randall family. Here she finds out Frank isn't her father.
Claire explains to Brianna about the time travel, her life in the 18th century and her real father Jamie Fraser.
At the end of the episode, Claire finds out that Jamie survived the Battle of Culloden and plans to go back in time to be with Jamie.
Details on Season 3
The third season of 'Outlander' is based on Diana Gabaldon's novel 'Voyager', the third out of the eight book series. Although there hasn't been an exact date for the season premiere, Starz has released the synopsis for the coming season. Episode 13 of Season 3 will be about Claire and Jaime trying to find a way back to each other after being separated by time and space.
The story continues to 1948, when Claire comes back to her time, reunited with Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) while pregnant with Jamie's child. It will be showing what Claire's life is like with Frank in Boston, all the while believing Jamie had died in the battle.
Meanwhile, in the 18th century, fans of the show will see Jamie going against Black Jack Randall (Menzies) in the Battle of Culloden and dealing with the loss of Claire.
Season 3 will be introducing new characters: Marsali McKimmie (Lauren Lyle), Dr. Joe Abernathy (Wil Johnson), Mr. Willoughby (Gary Young), Captain Thomas Leonard (Charlie Hiett), Geneva Dunsany (Hannah James), Isobel Dunsany (Tanya Reynolds), Ian Murray (John Bell), and Lord John Grey (David Berry).
The show has cast Cesar Domboy to play an adult Fergus, with Roman Berrux playing the younger version of the character.
Comic-Con panel
'Outlander' will be present in this year's San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). Hopefully, the show will announce a specific date for Season 3. Jenna Dewan-Tatum, a fan of the show, will be moderating the panel on July 21 (Friday) at Ballroom 20.
The panel will include leading stars Balfe, Heughan and Menzies. Sophie Skelton (Brianna Randall) and Richard Rankin (Roger Wakefield) will also be on the panel, joined by the show's executive producers Ronald Moore and Maril Davis and author Diana Gabaldon.
