“The Vampire Diaries” may have already ended back in March but it’s possible that the trio, Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, and Paul Wesley might be back with their fangs once more, during the 5th season of its spin-off, “The Originals.”

Blasting News previously reported that this possibility cannot be ignored since the show’s producers tend to revive cast members every time there’s a need for it, and in this case, it is for the show’s last. For example, Matthew Davis who plays Alaric Saltzman, did have his return for the original family during the 4th season and is expected to be in the 5th.

Reports are now making rounds that the show will add Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev in the cast.

Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev together again at work

With this, fans are questioning if the exes and former co-stars, Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev, are willing to work again together. This seemed true after Julie Plec gave the green light for some of the character’s return.

It is not really unimaginable that the pair of Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore (Delena, as fans would call them) would be returning during the last season of the spin-off. This is because of Nikki Reed’s Instagram post about empowering women and her friendship with Dobrev, back in February, where she stated “Here's to putting an end to all those fake stories of on set jealousy, betrayal, made-up-friendships lost and women hating women.” in response to the previous issues of Dobrev, Reed and Somerhalder’s relationship.

Reed fights back against the feud issues

“At the end of the day, that is what this is about: teaching girls that you have to hate other girls only breeds a generation of women who believe you have to hate other women,” she wrote. Eventually, the love triangle and feud issues went silent afterwards.

Speaking of the married pair, Reed and Somerhalder, are now happily expecting their first baby since their official announcement on Instagram last May.

Some of the actors involved in “The Vampire Diaries” have not yet confirmed any news about the comeback except for Wesley, Dobrev and Candice King (Caroline Forbes) who seemed positive about it. Reed and Ian Somerhalder might agree with Damon’s character to come back as well. Connecting the last episode of TVD, it’s possible that the cast of "The Originals" might go back to Mystic Falls where the others were last seen.

Bringing the cast of “The Vampire Diaries” to The Originals” would surely be a huge deal since both shows have remained for a long time on the small screen. It would be a bittersweet goodbye for many dedicated fans of the hit TV series.
