"Narcos" season 3 will focus on the new Cali Cartel that has replaced the Medellin Cartel of Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura). The upcoming season is set to air on September 1. Aside from the Release Date, an official trailer for the series has also been revealed.
It can be recalled that the previous season of the series ended with Escobar dead. Fans are wondering how the show will continue without Escobar in it. However, it was reported last year the third season is coming and it will focus mainly on the Cali Cartel. These new drug lords will be the main focus for "Narcos" Season 3.
This group consists of the four godfathers namely, Gilberto (Damian Alcazar) and Miguel Rodriguez (Francisco Denis), Pacho Herrera (Alberto Ammann), and Jose Santacruz Londono a.k.a Chepe (Pepe Rapazote). The series has recently been confirmed to its air date and Netflix explained that the Cali Cartel works differently from Escobar's drug cartel.
How the Cali Cartel works
The Cali Cartel that will take over Escobar's drug business in "Narcos" Season 3 works differently. It keeps away from violence and they prefer to bribe government officials. The Cali Cartel is ruled by Gilberto but the brains of the cartel's rise come from Miguel. Pacho serves as the hitman of the team and is the one responsible for Mexican connections and international distribution.
Chepe is responsible for its New York City satellite of Colombian drug network. This new drug cartel bought the presidency of Colombia in 1994. With the new drug organization, it is hard to tell who the bad guys are because of how they work.
New characters
There are characters that left the series after the second season. It is reported that Boyd Holbrook who portrayed the role of Steve Murphy in the previous season is not returning to the upcoming season of the series.
Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal who plays Javier Pena is returning for the upcoming season for the same role. The new characters of Gilberto, Miguel and Pacho were already introduced previously.
Chepe, on the other hand, is the new character that has been added to form the group of the Cali Cartel. The previous seasons have been focused mainly on Escobar's rise to being a drug lord.
He was killed and the drug trade continues in "Narcos" Season 3 and this time it is the Cali Cartel that will rule the drug trade. There are also original characters that are coming back for the upcoming season. The show is to stream on Netflix soon.
