Eating at KFC will not be the same for "Game of Thrones" fans as the fast-food chain taps on a fan-favorite cast member in their latest commercial. Find out what happens in this hilarious clip featuring Hodor.
'Game of Thrones' Hodor lives on!
The well-known fast food chain has jumped on the TV bandwagon few days before the worldwide premiere of "Game of Thrones" Season 7. According to EW, they tapped Kristian Nairn (Hodor) to promote the KFC Rice bowl with a surprising twist.
Titled as "Lunchtime is Coming," the short yet memorable video where Nairn plays the role of a KFC employee who got the dreaded lunch shift.
The clip shows the actor in a panic state as he takes all of the orders due to the overwhelming volume of patrons in the restaurant.
Nairn began mumbling "chicken and fries" over and over again until it turned into "chicken and rice." The said clip had a "happy ending" when Nairn successfully gave the KFC Ricebowl to a male customer.
This pays homage to the heartbreaking scene where viewers learned about Hodor's real name and the sacrifice he had made before he died. It was an indeed sad scene because of Hodor, despite his simplemindedness, became a permanent member of House Stark.
The sixth season of the hit HBO series ended as he died from protecting Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) and Meera (Ellie Kendrick) from the charging Whitewalkers.
Sophie Turner wants Hodor back
Nairn appeared as a recurring cast member on Season 6 and became one of the fan-favorite characters in the series. Since then, it further helped his career as a DJ and gave more opportunities for him including his famed "Rave of Thrones" tour last year.
Kristian Nairn's KFC appearance might not be the last time we will see him.
Cast member Sophie Turner expressed her interest in seeing Hodor again when asked about "Game of Thrones" Season 7. She also gave a theory on how Nairn can come back in the series even if he turns into a White Walker, the archenemy of the humans in Westeros.
"I'd love to have [actor] Kristian [Nairn] back," Turner told Express UK., "but Hodor as a white Walker might be slightly terrifying."
In other news, Nairn will headline a screening event ahead of the seventh season premiere in the UK.
It will take place at London’s Proud Galleries, Camden, on July 17.
And that's it for Kristian Nairn's Hodor-like ad for KFC Ricebowl, and you can watch the video below. Stay tuned for more updates on "Game of Thrones" Season 7 which will return on July 17 on HBO.
