"Game of Thrones" season 6 finally saw Daenerys Targareyn return to Westeros. The very end of the season 7 premiere saw her reach Dragonstone, where she can focus her attack to take back the Iron Throne. For six years she has been in the wings, a small threat but nothing to worry about. Now that she is here, all attention is on the known Targareyn heir to the throne.
'A Targareyn cannot be trusted'
There has always been one opinion of Dany by the people of Westeros. She cannot rule the Seven Kingdoms because she is a Targareyn. As the people in the north point out: a Targareyn cannot be trusted.
Now if only Jon Snow knew his own lineage right now. Currently believed to be the illegitimate son of Ned Stark, fans (and Bran Stark) learned that Jon is actually the son of Ned's sister and Dany's brother. He is part Stark and part Targareyn, and the true Targareyn heir to the throne. Yet he commands trust from those around him because they don't see the dragon in him.
Meanwhile, in King's Landing, Cersei makes it clear that Dany is the threat that she needs to focus on. With the small collection of people in her court, she tells them; "The Mad King's daughter will destroy the realm." That is a bit rich coming from the woman who destroyed most of King's Landing at the end of season 6 just to get rid of the religious faction and the Tyrells.
Yara Greyjoy wants to attack right now
"Game of Thrones" season 7 should see a big fight for the Iron Throne. All except the north are focusing on this big chair. The north is focusing more on the war against the White Walkers. In the trailer, Yara Greyjoy makes it clear that she believes now is the perfect time to attack King's Landing.
The daughter of the former Iron Islands king certainly has a point. Dany has a whole fleet, the Unsullied, and three dragons at her disposal. Cersei has the potential alliance with Euron Greyjoy, but everyone else is against her. If anyone was in the weaker position it would be Queen Cersei at this present time. However, it looks like nobody else is in agreement with Yara just yet.
Dany certainly looks like she wants something stronger to secure that Iron Throne she has wanted from season 1.
It looks like one of Cersei's enemies is going to join Team Dany. One clip shows Yara Greyjoy and Ellaria Sand kissing, suggesting that the Sand Snakes make their way to Dragonstone at some point. This wouldn't be too surprising as Ellaria is looking for revenge against Cersei for the death of Oberyn Martell.
"Game of Thrones" season 7 continues on Sundays at 9/8c on HBO. "Stormborn" is the second episode and looks like there will be far more action than the premiere.
