The much-awaited "Game of Thrones" season 7 premiere has finally arrived, and the fans of the hit HBO series made sure not to miss the pilot episode. As the rich plot unveils, new characters have been introduced, including that of Ed Sheeran, who briefly appeared in the series to sing a song and say a few lines. Although his role was just considered as a cameo role, landing a spot in the "Game Of Thrones" series was deemed to be a major milestone in one's acting career. However, much to the dismay of Ed Sheeran, his cameo was immediately greeted with mockery and bashing from the viewers.

It can be remembered that the "Shape Of You" singer had already shied away from social media a few weeks ago when he was bashed by Lady Gaga's fans on Twitter.

According to BBC, Ed Sheeran has deleted his Twitter account. This is notably the first time that the 26-year old musician has deleted his account.

Too much of social media

The "Thinking Out Loud" singer has been having a love-hate relationship with social media since 2016. In fact, Ed Sheeran took a one-year break from social media saying that he was getting sick of seeing the world and interacting with other people through a screen.

Eventually, he returned to social media to promote his latest album, "Divide." Recently, the "Photograph" singer had announced that he would lessen his activities in social media when Lady Gaga's fans started to attack him on Twitter.

Things eventually cooled down a little it when Lady Gaga herself defended Sheeran and told her fans to take it easy on him.

Love-hate relationship with social media

In the recently aired "Game Of Thrones" season 7 premiere, Sheeran appeared in one of the scenes with his cameo role. Of course, his fans were very supportive of him and congratulated him for successfully being part of one of the most iconic series in this era.

However, it appears that Ed Sheeran is a magnet for negative commenters and haters on social media, as he was flocked with a lot of mockery and hateful comments after he was seen on the "Game Of Thrones" season 7 premiere.

Hopping on to another project

Hopefully, Ed Sheeran will be able to move on from all the mockery he has received after appearing on "GOT." According to BBC, he has been scheduled to a new project, playing the role of Brendan in a musical-themed episode of "The Simpsons."

He will be working behind the scenes for that character so that it will be less of a magnet for internet trolls. As of writing, Ed Sheeran's Twitter account is still deactivated, and his reps have yet to comment on how long the singer plans to stay away from the social media platform.
