When it was officially announced that there will be an official “Batgirl” movie, fans rejoiced. With Joss Whedon confirmed to direct the movie by moving from Marvel to DC for the standalone film, the next big question is who will play the titular character. After the big announcement, there were a lot of speculations on who will get the main role as “Batgirl.”
Actresses who could play the role
The search is on for the next female superhero. Who will take the role? Here are some of the actress in Hollywood who will be a perfect fit for the superhero’s role.
Emma Stone
A lot of fans are rooting for the Oscar-winning actress to grab the main role and it is easy to know why. She is no stranger in portraying a character from the comic book universe.
Stone played as Peter Parker’s lady love, Gwen, in “The Amazing Spider-Man” film series. She also has Barbara Gordon’s signature red locks. If fans believe that she is the ideal choice to play as “Batgirl,” no one will disagree.
Chloe Grace-Moretz
Everyone knows Chloe Grace-Moretz as Hitgirl in the “Kick-Ass” films. She got rave reviews after playing the cooler than cool and no non-sense character which makes her another top choice as “Batgirl.”
She also worked with Matt Reeves, the director of “The Batman” during the 2010 film “Let Me In.” Besides, the director and producer of “Kick-Ass,” Matt Vaughn, is looking to direct “Man of Steel 2” as well.
Zoe Kravitz
Lenny Kravitz’ daughter is another top contender in taking the part as “Batgirl.” This is despite the fact that she only took supporting parts in most films that she is in. However, the actress demonstrated that she is equipped in getting the part with her recent movies “Huge Little Lies” and “Great Kill.”
Kravitz is also known as the mutant Angel in “X-Men: First Class” so this is not her first superhero film.
She also lent her voice to “The Lego Batman Movie.”
Shailene Woodley
Shailene Woodley is physically fit to play “Batgirl” after showing her tricks in “Divergent.” Although the movie turned TV series will push through without Woodley as Tris, she could still play the role as “Batgirl” because of her history of playing intense and likeable characters.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead
If Mary Elizabeth Winstead will grab the role as “Batgirl,” fans will consider it as a dream come true. The young actress displayed her grit when she played the roles in “Scott Pilgrim vs the World” and “10 Cloverfield Lane.”
