Despite not making an appearance in James Gunn’s recent MCU film “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” fans at least did get a quick look at Warlock’s cocoon in one of the post-credit scenes. However, the tease only led the fans to crave for more Adam Warlock details and previews.
Concept art of Adam Warlock’s cocoon
Ian Joyner, the freelance concept artist who worked on “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” released a clearer image of Adam Warlock’s cocoon in his ArtStation profile yesterday. You can check it out below.

In his post accompanying the image, Joyner explained how he did the passes on the Cocoon for the end tag of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.
2,” which he had fun with. In the final look, the design had a lot of golden hues/tech that tied into the Sovereign’s world which also made an appearance on the film. Luma did the final pass on the design by improving upon it with details and surfacing. He also added that if he could get the permission, he’d show the other designs as well.
Joyner also stated that he could not wait to see who or what might come out of the Cocoon in the future.
Adam Warlock won’t be in the ‘Avengers: Infinity War’
Many of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s trademark characters are expected to make an appearance in the highly anticipated upcoming film “Avengers: Infinity war.” However, after the disappointing news regarding Captain Marvel’s exclusion from the next “Avengers” film, “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn also confirmed via Twitter that Adam Warlock will not make an appearance as well.
There is definitely no Adam Warlock in Infinity Wars. After that, you’ll have to wait and see.

Many comic book fans are shocked after hearing the news because the character’s part in the whole Infinity War storyline in the comic books is pretty significant. Adam Warlock even wielded the iconic Infinity Gauntlet at some point in the story.
However, considering the already huge cast of the upcoming “Avengers” film, it only makes sense that Gunn would rather properly introduce Adam Warlock’s character. Back in Feige’s interview with SlashFilm, he explained that James Gunn was already developing Adam Warlock’s character and decided that the hero was not intended for “Avengers: Infinity War” and is expected to debut in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.
3” instead.
Ever since his Cocoon’s Easter-egg reveal back in The Collector’s collection, fans have been anticipating Adam Warlock’s proper introduction in the MCU. The confirmation of Warlock’s existence in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” is undoubtedly a significant development. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” release day has not been announced yet, but Gunn is expecting for the film to release in 2020.
