Last night the first trailer for "Pitch Perfect 3" was released to the public. It has been stated that the third entry will be the last for Anna Kendrick and the rest of the cast. However, there's talk of having the "Pitch Perfect" movies continue without the iconic characters. Regardless, today we will be focusing on the amusing -- albeit slightly off-putting -- teaser trailer.

What comes next?

It begins with Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins' characters stalking the Bella's like the paparazzi. Clearly, they have a lot of time on their hands.

We see what the Barden Bella's are up to now that they've graduated college -- and it's pretty underwhelming. They're mostly working basic, low-income, and often humiliating jobs. It looks like a college education didn't do much for them.

Dissatisfied with how their lives turned out, the Bella's decide that they want one last hurrah together. Anna Camp's character, Audrey, mentions that the USO puts on an annual show for the troops overseas, and decides to enter the Bella's. This ends up becoming a competition (of course) against the other bands, who all perform with instruments -- a seemingly forced conflict, but we will see how it plays out.

Explosions?

There are some humorous and impressive sequences showcased in this trailer.

Creative performance settings mixed with the nice cinematography suggest at least a few good song sequences, but then we see confusing footage of blazing fires and explosions; not to mention skydiving, jumping from high places, and Rebel Wilson using nunchucks. This seems very out place for a musical comedy but adds an air of mystery that's bound to intrigue the viewer.

It seems that the story will incorporate more of Anna Camp's character, but a startling absence was noticed. Newlywed Skylar Astin and recent Tony winner Ben Platt are nowhere to be seen in this trailer. Adam DeVine is absent as well, but considering his forced inclusion in the last film, that's probably for the best.

If this is going to be the last 'Pitch Perfect' film, then I hope it's a great one.

Regardless, it's sure to be a commercial hit with their long-time fans. Personally, I felt pretty optimistic after watching this trailer. It had some good laughs, familiar faces, and will get many hyped to see the next step in the Bellas' journey. Despite some concerns, this film does have a promising future. Many are crossing their fingers, with the hope that the third "Pitch Perfect" will be Aca-Amazing!
