"Jurassic World 2" may be a year away from hitting theaters, but already, some juicy tidbits are making their way to the public. It was recently revealed that the title of the sequel to the 2015 box office hit is "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" and a new poster was also released just this week. Back in April, it was announced that Jeff Goldblum was returning to the franchise to reprise his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm. Interestingly, the first poster for the film features his famous line, "Life finds a way." It's quite ominous, as it may indicate that the Indominus Rex may still be alive following the events of the previous movie.
It seems that fans of the franchise will get to see what's to come sooner, as the trailer for the upcoming movie may premiere during the San Diego Comic-Con this July.
Colin Trevorrow praises J.A. Bayona
The sequel is slated to hit theaters on June 22, 2018, but it wouldn't hurt to give audiences a hint in terms of what's to come when Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, respectively. "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" is directed by J. A. Bayona and brings back Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly as writers. Trevorrow told Collider this week that it's his "favorite creative collaboration" with Bayona. He praised the director, saying that while they do differ in ways, he was able to "craft something specifically for another filmmaker that I admire." The end result?
"A Spanish horror thriller with dinosaurs in it."
First trailer premiering at SDCC in July?
One of the most highly anticipated events of the year is the San Diego Comic-Con, a platform often used by large franchises such as Marvel and DC to showcase their latest trailers and talk about upcoming releases. According to Screenrant, Chronicle Collectibles is the official licensing partner of "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" and, in a recent interview with co-founder Paul Francis, he hinted at the premiere of "Fallen Kingdom"'s first trailer.
He said, "Universal is gonna start rolling out some trailers, I think the first trailer will be sometime around Comic-Con?"
The Comic-Con he is referring to is the one launching with a premiere night on July 19, and running from July 20 to 23. During this time, studios often unveil footage from upcoming films, and have the cast on hand to discuss said films. "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" arrives in theaters on June 22, 2018.
