"Jurassic World 2," the highly anticipated sequel to the 2015 hit, is shaping up to be one exciting film. The J. A. Bayona-directed film, which is set to arrive in theaters in 2018, is currently in production and some details have reached fans and viewers.
Recently, lead star Chris Pratt spoke about how the sequel is "scarier" and more unexpected than its predecessor, and it looks like screenwriters Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly have really upped the ante in terms of action and suspense.
The latest news to come out of film production is that it will feature an "epic" underwater scene and that Jeff Goldblum is returning to reprise his role as Dr.
Ian Malcolm.

Jeff Goldblum returning to the franchise after 20 years
Jeff Goldblum is officially making his way to "Jurassic World 2" to reprise a role he originated back in 1993, Deadline reported. He will once again play the mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm, a role for which he was nominated a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1993. He also appeared in 1997's "The Lost World: Jurassic Park."
It's not yet clear how Dr. Ian Malcolm will make his way back to the massive franchise story-wise, or how big his role in it will be. Viewers and fans may remember him as a nemesis of Sam Neill's Dr.
Alan Grant. What trouble he is set to cause for Chris Pratt's Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire Dearing remains to be seen. Meanwhile, the 64-year old actor is also set to appear in this year's "Thor: Ragnarok" as the Grandmaster.
Film will include a submarine
While production has kept mum on the plot of "Jurassic World 2," Screen Rant reported that Kevin Lane, who is a new addition to the cast, has hinted at an "epic" underwater scene in the upcoming film.
In a recent interview with Management in Stage and Film, Lane explained that he auditioned for two parts in the movie, but "ended up getting the role of ‘submarine pilot’, which was the role I wanted as it is quite an epic scene. So I should have a nice cinematic moment on screen in a massive studio film."
"Massive studio film" is the perfect way to describe "Jurassic World 2" and the franchise it originated from, as the 2015 film earned $1.67 billion worldwide, earning its title as the No.
4 film of all time globally, as well as the second highest grossing film of 2015 right behind "Star Wars Ep. VII: The Force Awakens," and closely followed by Marvel's "The Avengers: Age of Ultron." "Jurassic World 2" sees a release date of June 22, 2018.
