Lucas “Whaboom” Yancey may no longer be a contestant on “The Bachelorette,” but he is still causing drama several months after leading lady rachel lindsay sent him packing. In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show, Yancey not also dazzled Kimmel’s viewers with his spot-on Ace Ventura impression, but he admitted that he made up a homophobic story that he told “Bachelorette” star Rachel Lindsay about his arch rival, Blake Elarbee, earlier this season.
The banana bedtime story
Kimmel showed a clip from a recent episode of “The Bachelorette” in which Lucas told Rachel that Blake doesn’t like him and that he thinks he may even have a crush on him. Yancey, who goes by the nickname “Whaboom” due to his signature catcall that’s accompanied by a convulsive head shake, told Lindsay that he woke up to see Blake sitting over top of him and salaciously licking a banana.
“The Bachelorette” star tried to keep a straight face as she asked Lucas if he was being for real and if Blake finished the banana. Lucas said it was either real or a nightmare, but he has now confirmed to Kimmel that he may have embellished the homophobic tale to make his hometown enemy look bad in front of the gorgeous Dallas attorney.

Lucas and Blake have a history together
While Lucas is coming clean about his bedtime story, it’s not all that surprising that both guys got the boot during Rachel’s most recent rose ceremony. The eagle-eyed attorney could tell the duo— who previously appeared together on the reality show “Ex Isle” in 2016—weren’t on “The Bachelorette” for the right reasons. Blake ended up hooking up with Lucas’ ex, Brittney, on the WeTV summertime romp and the two carried their beef to “The Bachelorette” mansion.
If Lucas and Blake’s previous drama isn’t enough to convince you that the two of them were just brought on to the ABC reality show to cause drama, then Lucas’ obvious attempts at making money off of his Reality TV stints might.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lucas also peddles t-shirts with his “Whaboom” catchphrase emblazoned on them on his website, and business is undoubtedly whabooming.
Of course, all of this bad blood between Lucas, Blake, and the banana can only mean one thing: These guys are ripe for “Bachelor in Paradise” later this summer.
“The Bachelorette” airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
