Adam Newman has been gone for quite a while now in "The Young and the Restless," after the character was made to look, he was killed. His return to the small screen has been a subject of speculations since then, with Michael Muhney reprising the role. Muhney's recent tweet for fans gave a hint that the Y&R door is open for him to come back.
Muhney's tweet encourages fans' support
As spoilers tease that Adam Newman is set to appear in "The Young and the Restless," fans are hoping that Michael Muhney will be the one to replace the role after he left it in 2013.
Justin Hartley, who played as Adam most recently, left the daytime show as he pursues a primetime role in "This Is Us."
A fan sent Muhney a tweet asking how they can let Y&R the fans want him back and hoping they will make it happen. The actor responded, saying his fans' passion humbles him for wanting to see him return. He then tagged head of CBS Daytime Angelica McDaniel, producer Steve Kent, and Y&R executive producer Mal Young.
Humbled by everyone's passion. You can tweet @AngelicaMcD @SteveKentSony @malyoung @MidnightReturn1 -- but you must keep it classy ❤️ #YR https://t.co/s1SYuJhHyI

He also posted a photo of himself as Adam in Y&R set from years back, pointing that he was wearing a Rolex watch, which was a gift from Hope to her son Adam Newman.
And then in another Twitter reply to a fan who said she's been wishing for Michael's return, he said that she could wish more and never regret wasting one for him.
The lack of confirmation or denial from Muhney and the "The Young and the Restless" management just keeps the speculations going. Hartley is unlikely to come back for the role given the success of "This Is Us," which makes him unavailable for the daytime soap.
Muhney played the role as Adam Newman in 2009 and was seen on the show until 2014. He is also known for his role in "Veronica Mars" (2004-2007) and "Virtual Nightmare" (2000).
Adam Newman's return
Recent storylines are touching on Adam's death, and the only way to redeem Viktor is to show that Adam is alive. Spoilers from Celebrity Dirty Laundry revealed that Viktor (Eric Braeden) has a brilliant plan regarding Adam, which will be revealed this week.
Viktor would make a deal with Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson), so she could not be a threat to him being linked to Adam's frame-up that led to his presumed death. He didn't know that Chelsea has found Adam's wedding ring and that Chloe has already admitted to killing Adam.
TVOvermind initially predicted a May 2 appearance for Adam, whoever actor would play it. If it does not happen, speculations are counting on November sweeps.
"The Young and the Restless" airs from Monday to Friday on CBS at 12:30 p.m.
