Funko has released its new line of toys for “Pirates of the Caribbean: of th.” The series includes Salaza, Jack, and Will. Earlier this week, Funko released several vinyl figures for the highly-anticipated film “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” including the unmasked versions of the hero and heroine, and pops of all variants. The newest installment in the franchise will bring several challenges for Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), who has to deal with new rivals, including Captain Armando (Javier Bardem).
‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’
“Pirates of the Caribbean: dead men tell No Tales” is one of the most anticipated Hollywood movies of the year. It is the fifth film in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, directed and co-produced by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning. The story and dialogues are written by Jeff Nathanson and Jerry Bruckheimer.
The film features Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, Geoffrey Rush, Kevin McNally, Golshifteh Farahani, David Wenham, Stephen Graham, Keira Knightley, Martin Klebba, Angus Barnett, and Danny Kirrane. The director cites “The Curse of the Black Pearl” as inspiration for the story, dialogues, and tone of the movie.
Production and marketing
Shortly after the success of “On Stranger Tides” in 2011, the filmmaker began negotiating the project with Walt Disney Pictures. In January 2013, Jeff Nathanson was recruited to pen the story and dialogues.
The film is scheduled to be released on May 11, 2017, in the Middle Kingdom. In 2015, the first clip was showcased at the Disney D23 Expo where Johnny appeared as Sparrow, and Orlando was confirmed for the project.
So far, dozens of movie posters and trailers have been released.
In Canada and the US, the film is projected to earn over $120 million in the opening weekend. Shortly after the success of “On Stranger Tides,” Disney announced that it is planning to develop new “Pirates of the Caribbean” films. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has an approved rating of 72% based on 24 reviews.
