“The Fate of the Furious” has passed the $1 billion mark in just three weeks. It is one of the highest-grossing Hollywood films and the eighth installment of the “Fast & Furious” film franchise.

“The Fate of the Furious” hit the theaters three weeks ago and reached $500 million worldwide in its opening weekend. In the second week, the film grossed over $800 million, giving tough competition to “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”, which made a whopping $100 million in the opening weekend.

‘The Fate of the Furious’ – a Hollywood blockbuster

“The Fate of the Furious” is the highest-grossing film so far this year.

The American thriller is directed and co-produced by F. Gary Gray, with Chris Morgan serving as the screenplay writer. It is the eighth, and probably the final, installment in “The Fast and the Furious” film franchise.

The cast includes Dwayne Johnson, vin diesel, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Chris Ludacris, Scott Eastwood, Elsa Pataky, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron and Kurt Russell.

The development

The story revolves around a young man, Dominic Toretto (Diesel), who tries to settle down in a new city with his wife, Letty (Rodriguez). A terrorist, Cipher (Theron), forces him to work for her. Previously, it was rumored that Paul Walker would play the leading role in this film.

Unfortunately, the actor died in a car accident on November 30, 2013, so Dwayne Johnson was recruited to play the same character.

Plans for the film were announced in March 2015 when Vin Diesel appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” claiming that the shooting would be done in New York City. “The Fate of the Furious” was released on April 4, 2017, in the United States, Canada, England, Japan, China, and other parts of the world.

In the US, the film is being played in IMAX 3D and 4DX formats. So far, it has received positive comments from critics and audiences, with some of them praising its visual effects and story.

As of May 1, 2017, the movie has been developed with a budget of $250 million and grossed a total of $1.2 billion from more than 23,000 screens worldwide.

It is the third film that grossed more than $500 million in its opening weekend, following “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” ($520 million) and “Jurassic World” ($525 million). The film also broke the record of “Beauty and the Beast” by grossing $120 million in the United States on its first day of release. “Beauty and Beast” had earned $100 million on the first day.
